Shake flasks are the most popular bioreactor
system for small scale fermentations due to their ease of use, cost
efficiency and capability to be utilized in parallelized screening
experiments. Yet they often remain black box fermenters due to the lack
of adequate online monitoring technologies for key bioprocess parameters.
In this workshop we will present the CGQ
technology for online biomass monitoring in shake flasks and its value
for researchers in their daily work. The CGQ has been successfully
applied to a large variety of organisms covering standard microbial
cultures, thermophile and anaerobic microorganisms as well as microalgae
and plant cells. Hence, this workshop is the ideal environment for
beginners as well as experts from various research areas to refresh and
strengthen their knowledge about shake flask cultures as well as
state-of-the-art online monitoring solutions and shakers.
